"What should I do if I cannot decide who I should be dating?"
The Bible does not specifically address
this topic, but it does give us insight into what
we should seek in a potential spouse. The first,
and best, advice is to pray about it. God will
give wisdom and guidance if you ask for it. “If
any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God,
who gives generously to all without finding fault,
and it will be given to him” ( James 1:5 ).
“Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For
what do righteousness and wickedness have in
common? Or what fellowship can light have with
darkness?” ( 2 Corinthians 6:14 ). The first
question to ask is, whether the potential spouse
is devoted to God. If he/she is not, they should
not be considered for a potential spouse. On the
other hand, just because one follows Christ,
does not make them the right choice. Being
“equally yoked” can also go deeper than just “Is
he/she a Christian?” There are many different
beliefs in Christianity, and this should be taken
into account when choosing a potential spouse.
Consider what marriage would be like with this
person. Are your beliefs close enough to the
same that you can agree to teach your children
the same doctrines? This is of the greatest
importance.
For men, it’s important to look at what a
Christian wife is supposed to be. “Wives, submit
to your husbands as to the Lord. For the
husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the
head of the church, His body, of which He is
the savior. Now as the church submits to Christ,
so also wives should submit to their husbands in
everything” ( Ephesians 5:22-24 ). Paul tells us
that a wife is to be submissive to her husband,
out of love. This does not necessarily mean that
the girl you are considering a relationship with
should submit wholly to you, but rather she
should not be rebellious, but should submit
herself to her father out of love. She should be
willing to be led. Proverbs 31:10-31 tells us
what the “wife of noble character” is like. She
is hard working, generous and charitable, strong,
and wise. You may not be able to find all of
these traits in one person, but these are
desirable traits and pleasing to God.
Another scripture describing a wife that is
pleasing to God is 1 Peter 3:1-4 : “Wives, in the
same way be submissive to your husbands so
that if any of them do not believe the word, they
may be won over without words by the behavior
of their wives, when they see the purity and
reverence of your lives. Your beauty should not
come from outward adornment, such as braided
hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine
clothes. Instead it should be that of your inner
self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet
spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.”
This tells us that a woman should be pure and
living for Christ so that they can win a lost
husband over without words. It also indicates
that she should not be as concerned about
outward appearances as she is about her
spiritual life.
For women, there are a few illustrations of what
a Christian husband is to be. Although the
person you are considering a relationship with is
not your husband, you should look for qualities
that display this kind of love in the person.
“Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved
the church and gave Himself up for her to make
her holy, cleansing her by the washing with
water through the word, and to present her to
himself as a radiant church, without stain or
wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and
blameless” ( Ephesians 5:25-27 ). Is he loving? Is
he willing to lead people toward Christ, and help
them to be holy and blameless? Is he a leader?
A man should love God above all else and be
willing to help his brothers and sisters in Christ
to strive to be holy and pleasing to God. He
should be humble, wise, and merciful, just as
Christ was. Watch for these qualities in a man,
because this is what is pleasing to God.
You will not find a “perfect” person with all of
these qualities, but God will let you see if
someone you are considering a relationship with,
is striving to be pleasing to Him. Just as with
any other big decision in life, relationships
should be treated with caution, wisdom, and
handled with discernment and much prayer.

Justin Bieber Turned Concert into a Church Service
Justin Bieber is continuing his image transformation
from a troubled young celebrity to a reformed,
gracious pop star. The LA Times ran a review of a
recent concert in support of his new album Purpose,
with a headline that read “ How Justin Bieber turned
Staples Center into a megachurch.” In the review,
the paper wrote,
Between the skateboarding and the singing, though,
Bieber sat on a stool next to Judah Smith, the man
described as his pastor, and more or less preached.
He talked about the importance of maintaining a
positive spirit and surrounding himself with
encouraging people. ("Amazing," Smith said.) He
credited his connection with God for helping him to
get back on his feet after a string of widely
publicized tabloid troubles.
Bieber’s gone on record several times recently
openly discussing his Christian faith, name-
checking Bethel Worship and even inviting a profile
writer for Billboard magazine along to a church
service. In a cover story for Complex , Bieber
explained , I just wanna honestly live like Jesus. Not
be Jesus—I could never—I don’t want that to come
across weird.
He created a pretty awesome template of how to
love people and how to be gracious and kind. If you
believe it, He died for our sins. Sometimes when I
don’t feel like doing something, but I know it’s right,
I remember, I’m pretty sure Jesus didn’t feel like
going to the cross and dying so that we don’t have
to feel what we should have to feel … We have the
greatest healer of all, and His name is Jesus Christ.
And He really heals. This is it. It’s time that we all
share our voice. Whatever you believe. Share it. I’m
at a point where I’m not going to hold this in.”

Don’t Rush Into Marriage If You Are Not Ready – John Dumelo
Ghanaian star actor, John Dumelo in a recent
post on Instagram says with the way marriages
crash this days, it is advisable not to rush into
marriage especially if it’s due to pressure.
He wrote:
“The rate at which marriages are collapsing
these days is alarming. People rush into
marriage for the wrong reasons. They feel it’s
just nice to marry. So Let’s marry! They forget
it takes a lot to stay married hence if you are
not ready, don’t rush into it.
Don’t let “external pressures” force you to get
married. When/if marriage problems start,
those who were giving you pressure will be
nowhere to be found. God will reveal the right
one at the right time, His time is the best!

Wizkid has been stealing my songs for long –Blackface
Veteran dancehall act and a former member of the defunct
Afro-pop singing trio, Plantashun Boyz, Ahmedu Augustine,
widely known as Blackface, has called on fellow musician,
Wizkid, to “stop stealing” his songs.
Blackface who spoke exclusively to Saturday Beats earlier in
the week, said the young hip-hop artiste had been copying
many of his songs for a long time but he decided to keep
quiet just to let peace reign. The Benue State-born raga
performer however said he decided to speak out now
because he could no longer sit and watch someone else take
the glory for his efforts.
The latest controversy follows the release of a new song by
Blackface titled Killa where he was believed to have taken a
swipe on Wizkid for allegedly copying many of his songs
especially two tracks from his Dancehall Business album
released in 2010.
“I never really wanted to talk about it all this while but after
people started checking out my new song, Killa, many felt
Blackface sounded like Wizkid, which I didn’t like.
“If you check properly, you would realise that Wizkid’s hit,
Ojuelegba, sounds exactly the same as the track 13 on my
dancehall album released as far back as 2010. You need to
listen to that album to know what I am talking about. The
song is so similar that I think it shouldn’t be that way.
“Well, in Killa, I sang that “they tried to copy my melody,” and
the bloggers got a hint of the gist and put their reports out.
What I said is the truth and I am going to get to the root of
this matter because I deserve justice.
“The Ojuelegba song has made so much revenue for Wizkid. I
am not bothered about that but I want the industry to be in a
position whereby people will understand that some of the
artistes and the songs they are cheering is someone else’s
efforts, especially fellow artistes that they are doing
everything to bring down. All they are doing is to bring down
Blackface and to say that he is not relevant in the industry.
Some people are bent on killing my legacy. I believe there is
definitely a gang-up against me in the industry and this has
been going on for a long time,” he said.
Asked if he had taken on Wizkid personally on the matter,
the dancehall artiste said he did his best in that regard but
that the response from the Star Boy act shocked him. To get
justice on this issue, Blackface disclosed to Saturday Beats
that he could seek legal redress if Wizkid or others do not
refrain from stealing his intellectual properties.
“There was a time Wizkid followed me on twitter and I told
him that I don’t want him taking my songs and that if he
wants to do any of my rhythm, he should let me know. I told
him that because I was just being a big brother to him. I told
him that our songs can’t be sounding so similar and that if
he wants anything, he should let me know. But after some
time, he ‘unfollowed’ me and it was shortly after then that
the Ojuelegba song was released. I don’t have any problem
with Wizkid or any other person, all I am saying is that they
shouldn’t be tampering with my songs because those are my
properties.
“Wizkid and I do different kinds of music and he doesn’t have
my type of skill. I don’t have a problem with that. I am only
bothered when somebody takes my song and tries to turn it
around into theirs without giving me due credit,” he said.
Efforts to reach Wizkid to react to Blackface’s claims proved
abortive as his phone numbers were switched off. His
manager, Sunday Are, couldn’t be reached as his line was
switched off as well.
Wizkid has been in the news lately for a similar allegation.
Hypertek Music artiste, Dammy Krane, also recently accused
him of stealing one of his songs. The controversy
degenerated into a physical fracas with Wizkid reported to
have thrown a glass cup at Krane which injured him during a
night out at a club in Lagos. The two are believed to have
since mended fence.
I don’t care about the Headies award –Kiss Daniel
Hip hop sensation, Oluwatobiloba Daniel Anidugbe, popularly
known as Kiss Daniel, has said that he does not care much
about what transpired at the 2015 edition of the Headies
awards and has since moved on from the show which was
full of drama this time.
Daniel, one of the biggest revelations of 2015 with his
massive hit, Woju , defying odds and breaking barriers, missed
out on the top prize in the Next Rated category of the
annual music award which was won by Supreme Marvin
Dynasty artiste, Reekado Banks.
While some music lovers argued that YBNL act, Lil Kesh
deserve the award the most, a sizeable majority strongly
opined that Daniel with the impact of his two hits in the year
– Woju and Laye , should have walked away with the honour.
Speaking with Saturday Beats earlier in the week through his
manager, Louiza Williams, the lanky musician who was
involved in a car accident recently, said he is working on
becoming a better artiste by the day.
“The Headies is a prestigious award but I give God the
thanks and glory because I would always remain on top. I
don’t care about the award or what transpired at the event. I
have released a statement on the issue and I don’t want to
dwell much on it,” he said.
Responding to criticisms that his beats sound very similar,
the singer told Saturday Beats that he responds to such
comments with a smile on his face.
“I take criticism well and I thank my fans for their honesty
towards me especially when I released my songs woju and
laye . They said that the beats of both songs where similar so
I went back to the drawing board to improve on myself and
that is how we came out with the song, ‘Rabba’. Not to blow
my trumpet but it was my part that made the song a hit. To
be honest, Laye is my favourite song,” he said.
Barely two years down the line and the singer has
established himself as a force to be reckoned with in the
industry. He said he misses some things about being
unknown.
The singer said, “I really miss being an ordinary person
because right now I cannot step out without a bouncer or
security personnel because of stardom. We have different
types of fans and even though most fans wish me well,
things could get out of hand sometimes. Also I cannot think
about taking public transport because if I do, someone could
just take my picture and post it online claiming that I am
broke. Now I have to avoid scandal but fame has not
changed me.”
Commenting on his relationship with female fans, Kiss Daniel
said he never takes advantage of a female fan.
“The ladies have been amazing to me. They are wonderful
fans and I am a ladies’ man especially because of the kind
of songs I sing. I love my female fans. I am a loyal and good
boy who would never take advantage of women. I am a
young boy with responsibilities on my neck so I am not
thinking about settling down anytime soon. There is still
money to be made and I am not considering marriage at all
at the moment.
“This year I am working on my album and already, Wizkid has
made his own version of one of my songs. I have done
collaboration with him already. I also have some international
shows lined up. My album is almost complete and I would
release it anytime from now,” he said.
No more marriage for me – Solomon Akiyesi
Solomon Akiyesi is no doubt a popular actor but he became
more popular when news made rounds that he allegedly
wanted to marry a lady while still legally married to another.
To some, he is a serial divorcee and the news about him
online does not do justice to the young man’s reputation.
Many believe he has married at least four times.
But in an exclusive chat with Saturday Beats, the actor poured
out his heart, stating that he has always been the victim in
the two marriages he has had.
Akiyesi said, “I am not married and I am not prepared to get
married again. Since my marriage broke down, I have decided
to be alone instead of investing my love in any woman who
would not appreciate me in the first place. If I have to get
married at all, I would marry a white woman or a black
woman with a white heart because they are the ones who
appreciate love. I can no longer invest my love on people
who do not appreciate it and still rub it on my face.
“I am not going to say that none of the women I was with
appreciated me. Before we get into marriage, everything is
nice and smooth because we are pretending and making
each other believe what we are not. But when we get into
marriage, then we see our true colour. Marriage is like an
investment; when you put your money into a business, you
would expect returns, and the returns of marriage are peace
and rest of mind. If you are going into a marriage that would
not guarantee you any of that, then it is better you do not
venture into the marriage at all. All the pictures people saw
on Facebook about me getting married were all location
pictures.
“I have been into only two marriages that crashed and they
all followed the same pattern and I am not prepared to go
into that kind of pain any more. The only person that can
pressure me to remarry is myself because I am the one who
has been down that road before and I am the one preserving
myself from going down that line. If you see me go into any
marriage, then it means that I have fallen for my own
pressure. No one can pressure me into getting married again.
I am not saying that getting married is bad, it is wonderful if
you get married to your best friend. Sometimes I feel very
lonely and have no one to console me when things are down
for me, no one says well done when things are going
smoothly,” he said.
He told Saturday Beats that it was not time for him to open
up the can of worms that led to the failure of his marriages.
The actor was also quick to add that he loved and respected
African women but the few bad eggs have spoilt the good
ones.
Akiyesi hinted that his last marriage almost made him lose
his dignity.
“It is not that black women are bad but to get married, one
must be able to find a woman that would also be willing to
sacrifice love too. It is not a one-sided thing. Find someone
who is ready to love you the way you love them back. It is a
beautiful thing to get married to such people but when you
are the one doing the loving and the running around, then
there is always a problem. The day you are not able to
provide, there would always be a bigger problem. My fans
should expect more of professionalism from me in my career;
nobody should expect marriage because I am very happy
alone. My previous marriage took a lot from me and it almost
took away my dignity. I am not bothered with house chores,
besides I am not a lazy man,” the actor said.
South Africa offers study grants for virgin girls
A South African region on Friday said it had
launched a new grant scheme for girls who
remain virgins throughout the course of their
university studies, triggering outrage among
rights groups.
The bursary offered in Uthukela,in the southeast of
the country near Durban city, is the brainchild of
municipality’s female mayor Dudu Mazibujo.
News of the grant scheme sent shockwaves among
civil society groups, with one women’s association
branding it unconstitutional.
“The bursaries are for young girls who are still
virgins,” municipality spokesman Jabulani Mkhonza
told AFP.
“It’s a new category which the mayor has introduced
this year,” he said, adding that the goal is to
encourage “young girls to keep themselves pure and
inactive from sexual activity and focus on their
studies.”
Beneficiaries of the grant will be subjected to regular
virginity tests, he added.
“Those children who have been awarded bursaries will
be checked whenever they come back for holidays.
The bursary will be taken away if they lose their
virginity,” said Mkhonza.
The People Opposing Women Abuse (POWA) group,
said it was shocked that taxpayers’ money was being
used to violate girls’ rights.
“POWA is shocked to hear that young girls are being
tested for virginity in order to get bursaries… it’s a
violation of their rights,” the group’s executive
director Nonhlanhla Mokwena told AFP.
“That is taxpayers’ money that is being used to
violate girls… (and) the constitution of this country.”
Many South Africans from poor backgrounds rely on
government grants to get through university.
Planned university fee hikes last year provoked
sometimes violent protests nationwide.
