[Gist]: Why Popular Kenyan Singer Is ‘At War’ With Iyanya

Popular Kenyan singer, Charles Njagua
Kanyi aka Jaguar has accused MMMG lead
singer and former Project Fame
winner, Iyanya of not keeping to his end of
their deal.

The Kenyan singer ‘attacked’ Iyanya while
giving a speech shortly after winning an
award at the Bingwa Music Awards in
Kenya recently.
According to the Jaguar,Iyanya gave him ‘a
lot of attitude and stress’ while they were
working on the video of the song,‘One
Centimetre’ remix in which he featured the
singer .
In a video of proceedings, Jaguar, who
spoke mostly in Swahili, said some of the
demands Iyanya made in order for him to
feature in the video include that: ‘The
video shoot had to happen either in
England or Nigeria and the video had to be
shot either by Clarence Peters or Moe
Musa.‘ He went on to add: ‘Iyanya refused
to help market the song in Nigeria, saying
Nigerian TV stations would never play a
Kenyan song.’
Jaguar expressed fear and displeasure
that Nigerian music acts are taking over
the African music scene and he urged
Kenyans to support music from Kenya in
other to ward off the invasion of Nigerian
artistes. The video for the song was
eventually shot by Jaguar’s Kenyan
production team, Main Switch.
